Finding the Perfect Market

Finding a good market to purchase specialty items for any ethnic cuisine can be daunting to say the least.  If you live in a smaller town, you might have to go to a city and find one or order items online.  I found four that I go to regularly.

Hong Kong Market

I love going to this market.  You never really know exactly what they will have in the produce department, but it is always fresh and very inexpensive.  They have live seafood, exotic fruits and produce, hundreds of styles of soy sauce and vinegars, hot asian sauces and oils.

Sara's Market and Bakery

Sara's was introduced to me by my friend and neighbor who is from Lebanon.  She can find most food items, canned goods and spices that she needs for Middle Eastern cooking.

The bakery is my favorite part.  The breads are stacked on tables and are warm from the oven.  Fresh pita and lavash and samoon

The produce is great with unusual items from the standard US grocery store.

World of Spices was a unique find for me.  I was looking for injera. Injera is an Ethiopian bread.  This african bread is made fresh and delivered daily. The market leans more toward Indian spices and goods. They have lots of rice, like jasmine and basmati.

Jimmy's Food Store

Jimmy's is  almost an historic landmark in Dallas.  It is a wonderful marker for Italian cooking.  They have some produce and lots of canned goods and pasta.  Most of the pasta's are handmade.

The best part is at the back where they have a deli of italian sausages and cheeses.
Jimmy's makes italian sandwiches and sold over the counter.  Floods of people go to Jimmy's for their cubans and hoagies at lunchtime.

These are four of my favorites.  Find the ones that you like and support these special little markets.  Life would just not be the same without them.  Enjoy!
